Our aim of our proposal is to revitalized the urban spaces (estate common areas) and enhance the facilities of Mei Lam Estate to re-discover the identity and well-being of Mei Lam Estate residents. We achieve this by place-making strategy of affixing “plug-ins”, small-scale interventions onto the existing facilities but with large social impact. The plug-ins are modular, easy to maintain, cost-efficient with economies of scale, easy to install, freely customizable to suit changing occasions. The addition of these “plug-ins” to the existing street furniture and elements transforms and enhances their functions with the pretexts of the eight Well-Being Initiatives under the “Well-Being Design Guide”, namely the primary theme as “Green Living & Sustainability”, secondary themes “Health & Vitality”, “Family & Community Connection”, “Upward Mobility” and “Urban Integration”. Others of the eight concepts, namely “Age-Friendliness”, “Intergenerational & Inclusive Living”, and “Family & Community Connections” are also considered in the small scale social interventions.
