“Our design takes on this legacy of BAMBOO in Wong Chuk Hang’s history and express its characteristic explicitly: it is sturdy upright, it is bendable, it is easy to cut, and it is the most sustainable building material”

Historically, it was said that Golden Bamboos 黃金竹grew along the river through this area, thus this place was named Wong Chuk Hang黃竹坑. Coincidently, nowadays Wong Chuk Hang is undergoing massive changes, boosted by Government Policy’s Initiative, dilapidated industrial buildings are revitalized or made way for mega commercial towers.

The Aberdeen Country Park, being the Green Lungs of Wong Chuk Hang, is just a doorstep away from the urban precinct, making Wong Chuk Hang an economically vibrant, a rich art and culture, and an attractive prospects for residents and visitors. The vigorous real estate developments are symbolised by the rising Bamboo Scaffoldings all around the area.
Our design takes on this legacy of BAMBOO in Wong Chuk Hang’s history, and expresses the different quality of a BAMBOO at specific locations depending on the identities of the nodal points along the Green Link:
BAMBOO is sturdy upright, BAMBOO is bendable, BAMBOO is easy to cut, BAMBOO is the most sustainable building material.

We decide to recycle our main building material, bamboo, from the dismantled scaffoldings in the area to cut the cost of transportation and reduce the carbon footprint.
