DAEGU COMMUNITY LIVING ROOM

The New Daegu Gosan Public Library is conceived as the equivalent to the LIVING ROOM of your home, a comfortable environment where you greet family and friends, watch TV or read a book. An atrium, known as the “LIVING ROOM”, is created inside the centre of the building, with terraced and floated boxes of Culture and Lifelong Education Spaces strategically arranged to face into this void. The resultant is an OPEN and PERMEABLE building, with LAYERED SOCIAL SPACES, to create an OPEN, SOCIAL, BARRIER-FREE, VIBRANT and COMFORTABLE environment for public to enjoy, just as they would feel at ease in the own home’s living room.
